The Great Refactoring
Analysed an existing microservices architecture as a newly promoted Consultant, identified anti-patterns including request-response over a message broker, and designed a refactoring to a modular monolith with gRPC communication and OAuth2 authentication. Created the technical specification and business case, which secured client funding for implementation.
Foundations of a New Realm
Architected a greenfield calculation platform from scratch using clean architecture principles, separating CLI, GUI, and WebApp entry points from application orchestration, domain logic, and infrastructure concerns, with calculation logic isolated into its own project to enable future extraction into a microservice. Continued to support the implementing developer throughout, advising on design decisions as they arose.
